RHONDA PARKER, SUPERINTENDENT
I hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer. It is time to welcome returning and new students and staff to the New Miami Local School District for the 2017-18 school year.
Our administrators and staff have continued to work over the summer planning and implementing high expectations for the academic and behavioral growth of all students.
With that being said, the New Miami Culture Committee, comprised of PK-12 staff, prides itself in implementing positive behavior supports for all of our students. This team is proactive in addressing the needs of our students, families, and staff to create and maintain a positive learning environment for all.
The New Miami Local School District made significant financial investments to improve the technology for use by students and staff. Each student has their own Chromebook for academic use during the school day to complete assignments. Staff have increased abilities to be able to access the world wide web to enhance their instruction by the installation of multiple access points throughout the building.
The district is diligent in providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff. The district will have a new full time resource officer on campus to interact with students in order to build positive relationships between our learning community and local law enforcement. Over the summer, the district enhanced the security of our facility by purchasing additional security cameras to monitor the interior and exterior of our campus. Additional investments were made to add number signage to the exterior windows to allow local authorities to be able to identify spaces immediately in the event of an emergency. Egress maps were developed and posted in each occupied space to expedite the exiting of the building in the event of an evacuation. Other enhancements include entering into a partnership with Butler County Educational Service Center Director of Public School Safety which will support safety and security plans, mandatory safety drills, and the reporting of response data to the Ohio Department of Education.
I look forward to meeting with new and returning students, staff, families, and community in the upcoming weeks.
